Blameless Book Review

Hello Gemmies! I have a book review to share with you today. Blameless by Gail Carriger is the third book in the Parasole Protectorate series and follows the continued adventures of Alexia Maccon. This world of spys, steampunk, manners, and the supernatural is such a delight. I found myself completely transported to this fictional Victorian era London.

I love historical fiction mixed with the paranormal, so Blameless was right up my alley! Blameless is an action packed, steampunk, supernatural romantic comedy rollercoaster ride. And it’s just what the doctor ordered. If you are in need of some laughs, like heartbroken werewolves, vengeful vampires, strong female leads, excitement, and light romance....this book is for you. This is a series and as such I recommend reading the books in order. Blameless takes place right after the events in Changeless. Alexia as a main character is relatable and engaging. She remains stubborn and headstrong. There are also a whole cast of supporting characters that you will fall in love with. There isn't one that I don't like. The world building is expanded in this installment and we find ourselves traveling to France and Italy. There are wonderful descriptions of food and the countryside. For the steampunk lovers, there is an abundant amount of gadgets including murderous mechanical ladybugs! And of course my favorite part of this series....the paranormal elements are extremely well done. Trigger warning this is an adult book not YA so there are some adult sexy situations and innuendos. There are also plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing throughout. I absolutely adore this series and I think you will too.

This gem published by Gail Carriger LLC is available for purchase from all major booksellers. I give Blameless 5 out of 5 gems. If you like Victorian high society, mechanical ladybugs, manners, treacherous vampires, proper tea, drool worthy werewolves, action, and intrigue then go read this book! I look forward to reading more stories set in the Parasolverse. Happy Reading!
