HOVBT Blog Tour: Vampires Never Get Old by Zoraida Cordova | 15 Thoughts

Hello Gemmies! I am so excited to participate in the Hear Our Voices Blog Tour for Vampires Never Get Old: Tales With Fresh Bite by Zoraida Cordova and Natalie C. Parker. This anthology was freaking fantastic. I read it in one day and loved each story in the collection. Vampires Never Get Old includes stories by various authors including Samira Ahmed, Dhonielle Clayton, Zoraida Córdova, Natalie C. Parker, Tessa Gratton, Heidi Heilig, Julie Murphy, Mark Oshiro, Rebecca Roanhorse, Laura Ruby, V. E. Schwab, and Kayla Whaley.

There is not only diverse representation, but also fresh takes on the vampire trope.

I went through so many emotions and reactions, here are my 15 thoughts while reading... please enjoy!

15 Thoughts While Reading

So I have a slight bias to confess here. I have been shameless in my love for The House Of Black Sapphires by Dhonielle Clayton. It's my favorite story in the entire collection and I would kill, bribe, and give away my first child for an entire series of these wonderful characters.

Thought One: Beautiful Black Vampires...enough said!

Thought Two: Hold on I get beautiful vamps plus fashion, plus luxurious locations, plus sexual tension, and unresolved family drama and enemies?!?!? Take my money already!!!

Thought Three: Wait... Is the house their coffin? I can have an ever changing amazing crib in amazing locations? I am sooo down!!!

Thought Four: Can someone PLEASE create a paper doll collection for Cookie, Bea, Sora, AnnieRuth, Baby Bird, May, Evangeline and ALL of their outfits?!?!?!

Thought Five: I just KNOW Bea's desire for independence is going to cause all kinds of drama, and I am here for it!!

Thought Six: I need ALL the tea behind Evangeline and Smoke's history, and if it takes an entire book i'm okay with that too!

Thought Seven: Wait...wait...wait a damn minute! I get left on a major sexy cliff hanger between J.B. and Bea?!?!?!? Dhonielle.....HOW DARE YOU?!?!?!?!?

A Guidebook For the Newly Sired Desi Vampire by Samira Ahmed was so much fun and had me Laughing out loud!

Thought Eight: Hold on I can never have garlic naan, or any kind of naan again?!?! I may need to rethink this whole being a Vampire thing.

Senior Year Sucks by Julie Murphy has a fluffy slayer girl and I am loving it! Who said big girls can't slay?!?!?!

Thought Nine: A vampire Slayer named Jolene? Now I can't get Dolly Parton out of my mind. Thanks for the ear worm Julie Murphy! Jolene...Jolene....Jolene....Jooooleeennee.

The Boys From Blood River by Rebecca Roanhorse scared the mess out of me! Sooo Creepy!

Thought Ten: I will NOT sing the song! I will NOT sing the song! OMG I sang the song in my head and now I cant sleep!!!! Are the Blood River Boys coming to get me?

Thought Eleven: I want to know more about Lucas and Silas. What would you be willing to sacrifice to not be alone and live forever? Does anyone else get Lost Boy vibes from them?

First Kill by Victoria V.E. Schwab also needs to be a full length novel. You can cut the sexual tension between Calliope and Juliette with a knife!

Thought Twelve: Hunter family, Vampire family.....sworn enemies with undeniable attraction....what can go wrong??!?!?

Thought Thirteen: Another cliffhanger ending...agghhh! You can't do this to me Victoria V.E. Schwab!!!!

The Boy and the Bell by Heidi Heilig was the other story that gave me the creeps in this collection. And it was a historical fiction piece which I love!

Thought Fourteen: Yessss Heidi!!! Points for highlighting various Victorian burial traditions!!!!

Thought Fifteen: I never wanted a vampire killed more in my life! Privileged even in death....ugh you have to die Maxwell!
