Star Wars: The High Republic The Great Jedi Rescue Book Review

Hi Gemmies, I have a new book review to share with you today. Star Wars: The High Republic The Great Jedi Rescue by Cavan Scott is a fun quick read and a young readers version of the events in the first half of the adult novel Light of the Jedi.

This book is suitable for ages 5-8, but don’t let that stop you from picking up this gem. It was great to see illustrations of the ships and characters. I liked the aesthetic of the Longbeam and the Starlight Beacon. And let’s take a moment to appreciate the Wookiee Jedi with the best hair in the business... Burryaga. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Bell Zettifar a Black Jedi with dreads!! The little Jedi loving girl in me is rejoicing at seeing Jedi of color being included in my beloved universe!

The story is very short (only 24 pages) but there is a nice diverse offering of Jedi and action galore. I can see these new characters quickly becoming fan favorites for children and adults alike. The storyline itself may be a bit complex for younger readers. Trigger warning there is light violence depicted.

If you are a fan of Star Wars, like stylish Wookiees, and can’t get enough Jedi action...go read this book! Bonus for fans... this book has stickers! Published by Disney Lucasfilm Press, Star Wars: The High Republic The Great Jedi Rescue is available for purchase from all major booksellers. I give Star Wars: The High Republic The Great Jedi Rescue 4 out of 5 gems. Happy Reading!
