Hello Gemmies! The cover has been revealed for the newest Anita Blake novel! Sucker Punch by Laurell K. Hamilton is the 27th book in the wildly popular Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. Sucker Punch is set to release this August.
Synopsis of Sucker Punch from Goodreads:
A brutal murder, a suspect in jail, and an execution planned, but what if the wrong person is about to be killed?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When a fellow U.S. Marshal asks Anita Blake to fly to a tiny community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on an emergency consult, she knows time is running short. When she arrives, there is plenty of proof that a young were leopard killed his uncle in the most gruesome and bloody way possible. As the mounting evidence points to him, a warrant of execution is already under way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But something seems off about the murder, and Anita has been asked for her expert opinion on the crime scene. Despite the escalating pressure from local cops and the family’s cries for justice for their dead patriarch, Anita quickly realizes that the evidence doesn't quite add up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Time is against Anita, as the tight-knit community is up in arms and fear against supernaturals is growing. She races to uncover the truth and determine whether the Marshals have caught the killer or are about to execute an innocent man—all in the name of justice.
Laurell K. Hamilton is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors. I used to love the Anita Blake series, but I admit, I stopped reading after The Harlequin (Book #18). I think I tired myself out, but Sucker Punch has me excited for the series again. I think this may be a good time to revisit the series by doing a re-read of books 1-18 and get caught up on books 19-26. I'll work on a reading order post and schedule for anyone who wants to follow along!
You already know I love the cover art! I am really looking forward to reading this gem and hope it will be a howling good time! Are you looking forward to reading this book? What about participating in a re-read of the series? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below. Happy Reading!
