The Impossible Contract Book Review

Hello Gemmies! I have a new book review to share with you today. The Impossible Contract by K.A. Doore is a wonderful epic fantasy and the second book in the Chronicles of Ghadid trilogy. Let's start with the cover, I love everything about it, the strong young beautiful woman, the colors, the garrote...it is just bad ass and gorgeous and a perfect compliment to book one!

The Impossible Contract is amazing. I cannot tell you enough how much I loved it! There is heart stopping action throughout! Where The Perfect Assassin was a slow burn, this book was a raging forest fire! The action starts right away and maintains a pace that keeps you gasping as you turn pages. The world that K.A Doore has created is so detailed and unique and we get to see it expanded in The Impossible Contract by traveling through the dessert and visiting other cities. We follow the story of eager novice assassin Thana as she tries to make a name for herself and get out of the shadow of her famous mother. Events take a turn for the worse almost as soon as Thana accepts a contract to kill powerful political emissary, Heru. It becomes quickly evident that more than one person wants Heru dead, including a powerful sorcerer who has no problem destroying everything that stands in his path. There were so many twists and turns and ups and downs throughout this book, it left me breathless at times.

The Impossible Contract is also a well written character driven story. We are reintroduced to characters from The Perfect Assassin like my favorite Amastan. But we also meet a diverse cast of new characters along the way. I loved the relationship between Thana, Heru, and Mo. Each was so different from the other and it made their interactions so entertaining! They made me laugh, cry, and just shake my head at all of the stubbornness! This is a tale about accepting yourself, honesty, and the dangers of craving power.

If you are a fan of epic fantasies, adventure, murder, zombie armies, mystery, complicated love stories, and kind of happy endings then go read this book! This gem published by Tor Books is available for purchase from all major booksellers. I give The Impossible Contract 5 out of 5 gems. I loved this book and cannot wait to read more stories set in this universe. Happy Reading!
