The Lady Rogue Book Review

Hello Gemmies! I have a new book review to share with you today, The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett. Being a lover of historical fiction with a touch of magic and murder, I was very much looking forward to reading this book. What originally pulled me in was the cover art. The cover is beautiful with it's black background and gilded gold dragon. The combination of the bright gold, black, and red color scheme is both striking and intriguing.

We follow the adventures of Theodora (Theo) as she searches for her missing treasure hunting father throughout Romania with her ex-beau Huck. Her father disappeared while searching for the missing ring that once belonged to Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula. I really wanted to love this book, it has everything that I love in historical fiction. The story is very well written and the world building is amazing, but I never got invested in the characters especially Theo. She just wasn't very likable to me. I did however love all of the historical references and adventures through the Carpathian Mountains. I could really picture the castles, woods, and towns.

The Lady Rogue has plenty of magic, mayhem, love drama, and historical references. Although I was not a fan of the main character, I would recommend this book for anyone interested in historical fiction, Dracula lore, action and adventure. Published by Simon Pulse, The Lady Rogue is available for purchase from all major booksellers. I give The Lady Rogue 3 1/2 out of 5 gems. Happy Reading!
